I am sorry to announce that my Build-Your-Own Dreamcatcher Workshop (which was due to be held on Saturday, 27 May 2023, at the Healing Boutique in Spokane Valley) has, unfortunately, been cancelled.
·
For those of you who do not know, I am not an Indigenous person… (In a Spiritual argument, however, I do believe in Reincarnation and Past Lives… I feel a connection to Indigenous Cultures and their Rituals, which I can explain in no other manner. My soul has, somehow, been impressed).
·
Although I ℎ𝑎𝑑 intended to educate about the origin of Dreamcatchers, and the incredible Culture who created them, it seems that my Dreamcatcher Workshop is offensive to some people… We have encountered the controversy of “Cultural Appropriation” and, even though my intentions 𝑤𝑒𝑟𝑒 to give all the respect which I felt was due, it has been asked that I cancel the Workshop altogether.
·
…To combat Cultural Appropriation, and to portray a further amount of respect, I even offered to donate 10% of my proceeds (from this Dreamcatcher Workshop) to an Organization called MMIWG, which is dedicated to locating “Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls” in the United States and Canada. That would have calculated to be, roughly, $4 donated per each participant who attended the Workshop (and, I did plan to host this Workshop regularly). Ultimately, my proposition was declined…
·
The color of my skin disqualifies me from hosting a Build-Your-Own Dreamcatcher Workshop.
·
I am crushed, and feeling squelched… but… ‘moving on.

Best Regards,
